    Upwind rail kick before Spock

Why do the pros kick the upwind rail just before popping for a spock. They seem to go slightly upwind..?

Got an example (video)? I don't think I've seen any decent freestyler "kicking" the windward rail. It's bear off, pop the board and get the nose in downwind whilst releasing the back hand and rotating through the first 180 (a vulcan) and then continuing the rotation with forward weight/backward slide/sail press-flip out to make the spock.
Got an opinion? Great. Guess what, so's everyone else!

No, I mean for example http://www.continentseven.com/2011/1...-kiri-thode-3/

I don't see Kiri bearing away. He's tilting the board's upwind rail just before popping so in my opinion he's heading slightly upwind(?)

Kiri does it every time before popping (see eg. http://www.continentseven.com/2010/0...lo-kiri-thode/ frame by frame) so there must be a reason for it?
