    Stern have carried the story:

    http://www.stern.de/sport/windsurf-l...e-2141228.html

The announcement was made at Sylt at the start of the event yesterday, and this event is Dunkerbeck's last as a PWA slalom sailor.

(So it was already in the Sylt PWA event thread, and I also put it in 'gossip of the day' as that's where most news breaks first on here.)

There are plenty of interviews pending, but right now Dunkerbeck is racing in slalom heats today.

Does anybody go on Windsurf mag's site for news? I certainly don't.

The news was actually broken on twitter, by those at the Sylt event.

The announcement was made by Dunkerbeck, at Sylt, because that's his last event.

Seems to me it doesn't matter where the news was broken first – it's the news itself that's interesting.
Dunkerbeck's retirement is also a bit sad, whilst also being something that had to happen sooner or later.
There have been mumblings all season at PWA events, since Dunkerbeck has seemed to be off the pace – or without the speed advantage he once had.

But I guess the real issue is that this perhaps marks the end of a golden era for windsurfing.

    I just went to look.
The news is not on windsurf yet.
I was watching the livestream from Sylt yesterday, and that was when the news broke.
(It's probably still on the lifestream replay.)
But I'm guessing there will be some interesting interviews to come.

Well I'm glad you are reading the Gossip thread.

At the same time, you might like to work back in there and see what is on windsurf – and all the stuff that is not.

As it happens, I don't read windsurf's stuff online.
When I do retweet news found elsewhere, then I usually credit where it's come from.
When stuff is simply pasted or re-tweeted, where the stuff comes from is self-evident, because the credit is there for all to see.

In this case, I first heard about Dunkerbeck's retirement from my phone as I watched the PWA livestream from Sylt whilst sat in an auction at Hove Town hall.
That news then got posted in the Sylt thread.

I later re-tweeted ContinentSeven's pic in the gossip thread.

There's nothing on Dunkerbeck's own site or in his blog yet.
