Didn't Kitefoilers slaughter the fleet again in the "Bridge to Bridge" race?

A couple of week ends ago in the Almanarre.

Almost windless day. I managed to plane in about ten knots but then it dropped to 7kt and then there on the horizon I see a kite approaching... a cell kite, silent, graceful and beautiful.
18 sqm, rider on a foil, not a sound, not-a-sound!! doing easily 20kts

    A thing of beauty!!!

I know what I'm going to be learning before years end.

There's an annoying ticking in this one.

It's the angle! Right now Kitefoilers have the best down wind angle. They go around just in the mid/low 20s but windsurfers when pointed deep downwind stop by comparison. The "Bridge to Bridge" is one leg straight downwind and right now Kitefoilers dominate. Same for the Classic (SF to Berkeley and back). Put in some buoys and it might be a different story but still they are VERY efficient on a course

Foiling on the up and up now along Worthing / Lancing - this is Johny Hutch (ex Olympic Windsurf sailor) who is getting into it, along with various others such as Steve Waller.

Johny now using a ram air kite that gets him going in less than 10knts or even less - learning curve is steep though!
