    PWA Slalom 2 Costa Brava

There doesn't seem to be any live feed, Ben is in Pozo, but racing has started.

Day 2 video and some racing going on in light winds. I think it looks a fine sight large slalom kit skipping over the water in hardly any wind.

A couple of things I've noticed in the equipment, despite most of the sailors being hulks and the minimum wind limit now being very low, there aren't the number of 9.5-9.7 sails as you would have thought. Gaastra riders still use 9.6, but North have 9m as the usual biggest size, and Sailloft 8.6m. I know North have put some work in on lightwind performance

    > reduced loose-leech >> more direct acceleration after starts and jibing
    > reduced luff curve >> reduced sail foil tension avoids the sail becoming physical

Well they did put the extra loose-leech/luff curve in the first place

The 2nd thing is I'm likely to get a 125l/80cm slalom board as my largest board, but nobody seems to use that size, they go 1 bigger then jump to the next size down. Seems the same in the UK as well. Where do I get my 1 year old 2nd hand ex-team riders hardly used board at cheap price when the next years kit comes out from

Day 3 and just 1 heat sailed which Ross Williams won.

I quite like this new seeding approach. For elimination 1 the top 16 get seeded through to the 1/4 final. If they don't get through that, they drop down and have to sail in the 1/8th for elim 2. Like Ross & Albeau had to. It gives the lesser riders more racing instead of being drawn with 4 big guns in round 1 each time.

I'm sure the sponsors get more value for money if they invest a small amount in windsurfing.tv. What's the point in sponsoring if only 100 people on the beach can see it?
