    I agree. But in this case they thought the volunteers and goodwill would keep things going – so they cut paid labour costs and then failed to address the income issue.
    I guess the writing was in the wall when the original Boards company sold the title.

    You can have a life style business that is run with other objectives than to make a profit – typically a rich benefactor running something as a trophy asset or on philanthropic grounds. If I won the lottery I’d have my own windsurfing related business – it wouldn’t make any money but that would not be the point!

    i've had this conversation with Steve Thorpe (K4 fins) when i asked him if he wa going to be the next windsurfing millionaire
    and we both agreed to make a million out of windsufing you would need to start out with 10 million !

    Back on topic. I was quite surprised that a few months ago when the sale of Boards was first mentioned that the DNS changes were not made straight away. It takes a bit of time to do these things, and for Google to start indexing on the right name etc. I would have thought that would be a bit of a priority for any potential purchaser wanting to earn revenue from the brand.
