"Desperately hoping the wind would hold to get me round some sticking out bits" I bet he picked a local up on the outer whirlpool ring before it gained him on to the next challenge.

He's screaming along today (15 kts) now he's round the bottom bit of Norway. Looks like he's on a series of broad reaches. He's almost within 100 nms (as the patriotic Swedish raven flies) of Sweden. Awesome stuff.

The last video on his blog was of him being becalmed and feeling seasick. Now he has a 15 knot (according to the wind overlay) dead downwind run, with a 9.2m.

As the crow flies, he must have done about 55km today so far.

I think I read somewhere that he wants to finish the entire Norwegian coast now, but the predominant wind doesn't seem to favour the crossing from Sweden to Denmark. I wonder if he's tempted to tackle the direct crossing instead; conditions look ideal for that on Friday. 60NM of open sea without a support boat though - gulp.
