The big scoop and he's off making good headway south to see us in the channel. Good travels from Russia with gloves.

It hadn't occurred to me how snowy and cold the start of the journey would be. Pictures from yesterday, here:

I was wondering what time Jono could sail to until it would get too dark up there. From a quick Google, sunset will be . . . . . . August.

Following him with the tracker and Google Earth is going to be a lot of fun - a virtual tour of Europe's coastline and hidden nooks and crannies. Zooming in to where he was just now, in a Fjord - epic scenery!

His wakes there for all to admire, that's a good course. In those chilly pics with zero wind cept a wedge wind off a ice collapse he must be a dab hand at creating apparent wind. Trying to conjur up a wind from zero i seem to remember was swiveling hips an clearing the lake of wildlife.

Forecast for the next few days in the area he is at now. I think I recall him saying he didnt mind offshore winds as the sea was calmer, but that wasn't in 3-5c air temperature and cold seas.
