Waiting for the rain to clear, & the W-NW wind. Hoping it's not too chilly!

    11.30am.
I see the wind has dropped on Chimet a lot, and has veered more SW.

The forecast update for my beach suggests a wind 'switch off' at about 1pm.

The thinking is that the wind will veer 80-90 degrees as the front clears.

Here in Hove we've just had 6 fire engines on a call out at one of the seafront flats.
Probably dodgy scaffolding or some roof problem but I can't see from here and it's difficult to get my front door open, LOL.

Here's how XCweather looks just now.

    13.15.

Weird, I see that the Lancing Sailing club site is still showing SW wind direction but that the strength has dropped as the rain cleared, to just 10 knots.
That's quite rare, to get the switch off but without much of a swing.

The wind will however veer more WNW later. It should also pick up again, but not to earlier levels.

Chimet showed the drop too but it's picking up again there now – and blowing from the W.

It's still blowing hard further east. And I see that Camber Sands logged gusts of 50mph earlier.

Further west, I see the NW wind is now very strong for the Weymouth area.
I wonder if anyone is braving K Bay today?

We did get the wind swing in the end.
It’s not only blowing from the NW here in Hove, it also dropped to nothing.

On the the plus side, the surfers are loving it. There’s a big swell and it’s glassy.

UK weather continues after Caroline – so maybe we need a new thread.

But I see there is quite a big change to the weekend weather.

Not sure what time the wind will come through on Sunday because it's a small low, mostly affecting the south coast.

Came good yesterday. As wind switched the waves dropped in size, but cleaned up nicely. Ended up with a long period swell mixed with a smaller swell, that could muck up the bigger waves, & fairly off shore wind. Only 1 windsurfer & 4 kites.

Looked amazing again today, with logo + waves having the tops wiped off in the sun. A few looked, but a bit too cold for me.
