Pozo / Vargas in East winds

I'm heading to Vargas (Gran Canaria) over Christmas. The wind looks pretty E rather than NE / N.

Does anyone know which spots are best in that direction?

Thanks. It's been more N in the last days, which I guess suits Pozo. We are staying 500m upwind of Vargas.

I hated Pozo...found place quite depressing, terrible launch and walk upwind if wind drops ( which it did for me two days running) is simply terrible. Yes, on its day its fantastic, but if you expect wife to stay there whilst you sail book a good lawyer for your return. The village ( for want of a better word) is not nice.
I enjoyed Vargas and Bahia, would go back to GC but wouldn't waste a journey to Pozo.
I don't understand Pozo's attraction. There are some beautiful spots in Canaries with just as good sailing but for some reason its on everyone's radar to visit some day. My advice. Dont.

Well my wife really liked Moulay, so your description sounds very hopeful Alphie.

At any rate I don't think the wind will be any good for Pozo if it is dead E, so back on topic, anyone sailed there in an E wind?

Your wife has good taste then Rod?

Besides I prefer Moulay to Pozo.

The waves are likely to be rather dumpy and still large this time of year in easterlies. I wouldn't go to Pozo at its best...Bahia Feliz is much nicer and not far away...yep waves will be smaller but they wont be brilliant anyway in east winds. Honestly ,unless conditions are great, Pozo will be a disappointment. Loads of great places nearby.I had a sail with Dunkerbeck at Bahia..I think he has some apartments nearby. Saw him quite often pedalling along front. GC is probably my favourite Island . Went diving and hired a dive scooter thing on no wind days. Food great and cheap.Car hire cheap. Enjoyed it...

Well I'm in Gran Canaria now, staying near and old salt works about 1km upwind of Vargas. Beautiful spot. I'm not sure if I will get any wind, but as we flew in there were about 20 boards out at Pozo on a 13knot forecast, so fingers crossed.
