    Van conversion and dvla

I am slowly converting my transit custom , originally intended to use as day van but now I am wondering if it's worth converting and meeting dvla requirements to classify as motorhome apparently you can get cheaper better insurance, ferry tickets...not sure about tax though, and can legally drive at 70mph!

The whole thing is a bed of nails not least because the definitions used in the Road Traffic Act do not coincide with those used by DVLA! Further factors are the class type of the original vehicle as specified by the manufacturer, and whether the vehicle is classified for VED as private or commercial. Good luck sorting all that out!

The VW forum is a good place to get advice but I would warn that even there confusion reigns. This might help https://www.gov.uk/government/upload...-motorhome.pdf
