    Wind wise forget it. The trade winds don’t pick up until late November or December. There’s little ashore to do in arid and poor location.

    Absolutely. The best thing about Sal (not the Cape Verde Islands collectively) is that it gets some good wind in spring. Even then it's not that reliable. The family would hate it. As basher says you have Greece (and the whole of the Med) in August. Generally much nicer.
